Your finishing machine is likely to be the noisiest machine in your shop, unless you like your radio turned up to 11 for Sir Terry Wogan’s morning broadcast to the country.

There are always little things you can do to reduce the noise your finisher emits, most of which one of our service engineers could do on site.

The first thing we would recommend would be a machinery “Healthcheck” where on of our engineers would thoroughly go over the finisher and check noise and extraction levels, and test the motors.  Our man can suggest the best way to maintain and improve the performance of your machinery.

We have found the best ways of reducing the overall noise of a finisher is to replace the 75mm scouring band with a 40mm one.  If you can’t live without your 75mm band perhaps you could try running it with a 40grit band rather than a 24grit one – you’ll be amazed at the difference.

At the very least, you should ensure the contact wheels for the Bandscourer are as free of built-up dirt as possible.  These obstructions can greatly increase the noise of your scouring section.

We can fit what we call “eggbox” foam material to the inside of the scouring section metalwork.  This can help cut down scouring noise.  As can the fitting under the machines of our anti-vibration matting.  This matting is 12mm thick and can greatly reduce machinery tremble, particularly on wooden or uneven floors.
